Open Access Article Submission Guidelines

 

At Biotational, we are committed to advancing open-access research by providing a platform for high-quality, peer-reviewed scientific articles. Authors submitting open-access articles must adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a smooth publication process.

 

Type of Journal: Diamond Open Access
License: Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0)
Fees: Biotational charges no Article Processing Charges (APCs).
Access: All articles are freely available to readers worldwide.
Fields Covered:
Biotational welcomes original research, reviews, and reproducible code contributions across the full spectrum of computational science. This includes—but is not limited to—work in computational biology, neuroscience, environmental modelling, physics, chemistry, systems biology, artificial intelligence, and interdisciplinary computational methods applied to scientific problems.

Biotational is proud to operate under the Diamond Open Access model.

  •  Articles are licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0, allowing non-commercial reuse with attribution

By removing financial barriers, we aim to make high-quality research accessible to all, regardless of funding status.

Formatting & Structural Guidelines

  • File Format: Acceptable formats are DOCX or PDF.

  • Length: Minimum 2,500 words (excluding references).

Structure:

  • Title Page: Title, Authors, Affiliations, Corresponding Author’s Email

  • Abstract: Max 250 words summarising the study

  • Keywords: 3-6 relevant keywords

  • Introduction: Background, research question, and objectives

  • Methods: Detailed methodology, reproducibility encouraged

  • Results: Clear data presentation with figures and tables where necessary

  • Discussion: Interpretation of results, limitations, and implications

  • Conclusion: Summary and future research recommendations

  • References: Formatted in APA, Harvard, or Vancouver style

Figures, Tables, and Supplementary Materials

  • Figures and tables must be clear, high-resolution, and properly cited.

  • Supplementary data, including code, datasets, and extended methodology, can be included as separate files.

  • Datasets should be linked to a repository (e.g., GitHub, Zenodo, or Biotational’s own dataset submission portal).

  • To submit your work:

    1. Visit our Submit Your Research page

    2. Complete the online submission form or email us at info@biotational.com

    3. Attach:

      • Your manuscript file

      • Any supporting files (datasets, code, images)

      • Optional: Cover letter

    You’ll receive a confirmation email upon successful submission. If you do not receive confirmation within 48 hours, please contact info@biotational.com.

  • All submissions to Biotational undergo editorial screening and single-blind peer review.

    In single-blind review, reviewers remain anonymous, while authors’ identities are visible to reviewers. This helps ensure unbiased, constructive feedback while maintaining practical transparency for interdisciplinary evaluations.

    Steps:

    1. Initial editorial check for scope, clarity, and originality

    2. Peer review by one or more qualified researchers in the relevant field

    3. Editorial decision: Accept, Request Revisions, or Reject

    4. Revisions and resubmission, if applicable

    5. Final publication approval

    We aim to provide a response within 4–8 weeks of submission.

    Biotational follows best practices informed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and values ethical, constructive, and fair assessment at every stage.

Biotational is committed to upholding the highest standards of scientific integrity. All authors must ensure their submissions meet ethical publishing requirements.

By submitting a manuscript to Biotational, authors declare that:

  • The work is original, and has not been published elsewhere

  • The manuscript is free from plagiarism or undisclosed AI-generated content

  • All listed authors have approved the submission

  • All co-authors contributed meaningfully to the work

  • Any research involving human or animal subjects complies with institutional and legal ethical standards

  • All data is presented honestly, without fabrication or manipulation

Biotational adheres to the ethical principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). In cases of misconduct, we reserve the right to reject, retract, or report the submission

  • A proof will be sent for your approval

  • Your article will be published under CC BY-NC 4.0

  • Each article is assigned a permanent URL

  • You will receive a shareable link for public access

  • The article will be included in our Article Archive
