Intellectual Property and Licensing

  • Author Rights: Authors retain full copyright over their work. By submitting content to Biotational, authors grant us a non-exclusive license to publish, display, and distribute their work on our platform. 
  • Creative Commons CC BY-NC License: All published content on Biotational is licensed under the Creative Commons CC BY-NC license, allowing others to: 
    • Share– Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format. 
    • Adapt– Remix, transform, and build upon the material for non-commercial purposes. 
  • Attribution Requirements: Users must provide appropriate credit to the author, link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. 
  • Non-Commercial Use: Any use of Biotational content must be for non-commercial purposes. Commercial use requires explicit permission from the copyright holder. 

Content Submission Policy

  • Originality and Compliance: Authors confirm that their work is original, free from plagiarism, and does not infringe on third-party rights. Authors agree to adhere to ethical standards, including: 
    • Accurate reporting of data and results. 
    • Disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest. 
    • Proper attribution to co-authors and contributors. 
  • Peer Review Process: All submissions undergo editorial or peer review. Biotational reserves the right to accept, request revisions, or reject submissions based on reviewer feedback. 
  • Research Integrity: Biotational expects authors to comply with ethical guidelines, such as those set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Research involving human or animal subjects must meet ethical and legal standards. 

Article Processing Charges (APC) and Payment Terms

  • APC Requirement: Authors must pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) based on their selected submission tier (e.g., Standard, Student Discount, Inclusivity Tier) before the review process begins. 
  • Refund Policy: APCs are non-refundable unless Biotational decides not to publish a submission. Partial refunds may be issued if the submission does not meet initial screening standards, at Biotational’s discretion. 
  • Third-Party Payment Providers: Payments are processed through providers such as PayPal or Stripe, and users agree to comply with these providers’ terms. 

Data Privacy and Security

  • Personal Data: Biotational collects personal information as described in our Privacy Policy, including author names, affiliations, and contact information for publication and record-keeping purposes. 
  • Data Protection Compliance: Biotational complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws. Users may request access, correction, or deletion of their data as outlined in our Privacy Policy. 
  • Data Availability: Authors may be required to provide underlying data for transparency and reproducibility. Authors confirm that shared data complies with all relevant privacy laws. 

User Conduct and Responsibilities

  • Accuracy of Information: Users agree to provide accurate information for their Biotational profile, submissions, and payments. Biotational reserves the right to suspend accounts containing false information.

  • Limitation of Liability: To the fullest extent allowed by UK law, Biotational shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages resulting from the use of this website or its content.

Retraction and Correction Policy
